Crossing Bridges by Joel Harper

I built a bridge
with my
bare
hands
so she could
cross
the
roaring river.
I’ll never forget.
The beautiful
sun set
the day I walked her across that bridge
and we said our goodbyes.

Joel Harper is a writer, musician and music teacher. In 2003, Joel created his own imprint, Freedom Three Publishing, and he has written and self-published three titles: “Restless Spirit: The Eyes of a Child,” “All the Way to the Ocean” and “Sea Change.” A children’s book encouraging children and adults to protect the marine environment, “All the Way to the Ocean” has been translated into Mandarin and Spanish, and recently was adapted into an animated short film featuring Marcia Cross, Xavier Rudd, Amy Smart, Jack Johnson and Ben Harper, which debuted on Earth Day 2016. His fourth book, “Frankie Finds the Blues,” with a foreword by Taj Mahal, will be released in September 2016, in partnership with Playing for Change. Joel resides in his hometown of Claremont, Calif., with his wife and two sons.
